Dear Host family,
First of all, thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to live in the United States for a year and to be a part of your family.
My name is Romane, I’am from France and I’m a sophomore in high school right now.
First, I have many hobbies and interests, particularly ice skating. I practice this sport since three years, two times a week. Thanks to this sport, I made a lot of friends and it has given me the feeling of being part of a team.
A few years ago, I was in a swimming club. Even tough I don't practice this sport anymore,I still love to swim when I go to the beach. I’m really open to try new things, including sports. I hope to join the cheerleading team, but I’m interested in joining others school clubs as well.
In my free time, I love to watch series, often Americans ones, to bake ; cookies, cakes, to read books about romance, to take photos, to go shopping with my friends, to travel, and to spend time with my family. I would be so glad to share my cooking talents with you.
English is my favorite subject at school, and I would say that I’m studious and organized. People describes me as a generous, funny, optimistic, cheerful and honest person. Some facts about me : my favorite meal of all time is pasta, my favorite serie is “Friends”, I prefer summer over winter.
Doing an exchange year in America has been my dream since I was around 11 years old. My fascination for this country started when I went to the USA for holidays with my family, three times. The first time we did a road trip on the West Coast ; California, Nevada, Utah. The canyons landscapes were breathtaking.
The second time, it was in New York City. It’s my favorite city. I was feeling like in an episode of gossip girl.
The last time we went back to the USA, it was in Florida. I enjoyed beach and sun everyday.
I simply loved the way of living, the culture, the language, the way that it’s so different from France. I think this country has a lot of differents and various landscapes, just as magical as the others.
I'm looking forward to spend a year in the United States, to experience everyday life in an American family. I want to learn more about American culture and traditions, and of course to improve my English. But I also hope that you will discover French culture and language from me.
There is a lot of things I’m really excited to do in the USA. For example, simple things like trying local food, carving pumpkins and dressing up for haloween, going to sports games or participating to school spirit week. I hope we will do a lot of activities together !
I can’t wait to try new things that doesn’t exist in my country, like prom, thanksgiving, homecoming, cheerleading, and a lot more.
Other than that, I love to meet new people, to live new experiences and to see new way of living.
I live with my dad, my mom and my older brother, who’s 23 years old. I have another older brother, he is 20, but he doesn’t live with us anymore. I have a very good relationship with all of them, because we are a close family. We love to spend time together and to travel as a family. A normal day in my home country is going to school almost all day, and when I’m going home I do my homework. On Tuesdays and Fridays nights I go to my ice skating practice with my best friend. I also frequently hangout with my friends outside school on the weekends.
In the future, After getting my Highschool diploma, I would like to spend a year abroad to be au pair in the USA ; take care of the house, the children, the chores of a host family.
It would permise me to live in the USA again, to travel and to help a family.
After this, I'm planning to do superior studies to become a photographer or a journalist in fashion, or cinema industries.
I’m so excited to meet you and to be a part of your family !
Warms regards,
Romane
