's Letter
Dear Host Family,
How do you write a letter to a family in a country you don’t even know? I don´t know either but in the next lines, I’ll try my best to introduce myself to you. At first thank you so much for participating in the exchange year program and willing to host an exchange student! I am very thankful and so excited for the chance to live with you and become a part of your family. My name is Greta and I am a 16-year-old student from Germany. By the time my exchange year is starting I have completed middle school. The reason I want to go to the USA is because I want to get to know new cultures, new people, to improve my English and lastly the most important one, I’d like to find a second home. I’ve been to the USA multiple times and I always asked myself, how are the people living there? And what does it feel like to go to a high school in the US? In my exchange year I really want to get to know the culture and the life in America. I’m a very funny, open-minded, caring and reliable person and sometimes a little crazy but in a good way! I am very outgoing and I like to connect with other people. I’m very positive-minded and I laugh a lot. Spending time with family and friends is very important to me. I really enjoy having a shopping day with my friends or doing activities with my family but I enjoy a chill weekend too!
I’m also a very sporty person and I love to try new things. In my free time I do cheerleading. I’ve been doing it for 4 years and I train 3 times a week. I hope that I get to continue that at my new high school or in a gym, because it’s always been my dream to be on a cheerleading team in America but I am open to try new things too.
One thing I also really love is traveling. When I finish school, I would like to become a flight attendant, because then I get to see more of the world.
I also listen to a lot of music and I’m a big fan of concerts. My absolute favourite artist is Sabrina Carpenter I listen to her every day. I also listen to Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan, Benee and Tate McRae. But maybe you have some cool recomandations for me. During my stay I would love to experience aspects of American culture, especially Halloween, Christmas, Fourth of July and Thanksgiving. One thing I would like to experience too is going to Target and testing some cool American fast food restaurants like Chipotle because I really like burritos – but only vegetarian ones, because I am a vegetarian… One of my favorite meals that I could eat all time is vegetarian sushi and cucumbers.
Oh and one little fun fact about me is, I LOVE stuffed animals. I have so many of them and I really collect them. The funny part is that every Plushy has their own name and a special memory to me so that's one thing that is good to know about me!
My family is made up of my mother, my dad, my stepmother, my stepdad, my grandma and my cat Tobi. My mother and I have a very close relationship that’s why
honesty is very important to me. At my home we laugh a lot together and joke around, so I hope that you also have a bit of humor so that we can laugh a lot together during the time we spend together. I don’t have any siblings myself, but I love children and animals and I get along with them very well. I even worked voluntarily in a kindergarten. I would be very happy to have host siblings or animals in my host family. I would also love to share a part of my culture with you. Maybe
we can cook a traditional German meal together or we play a typical German board game! Thank you so much for making my dream possible! I hope to learn a
lot, grow during my time with you, and bring a small part of my culture
into your home.
I am so exited to meet you soon!
With love,
Greta
