Dear futur host Family, My name is Emily and I live in southern Germany. I can't describe how excited and happy I am to be starting my trip to the USA. Ever since I was little, I've dreamed of doing a year abroad in the USA, so I'm even happier to finally have the chance to experience it. My Hobbies and Interests I've been playing tennis since I was 12 years old, and I love it. I also go to the gym quite often, which I really enjoy. I'm very open to learning and trying new things. I like it when people involve me in new activities and convince me to try new things. I would also love to try new sports when I'm in America. At school, my favorite subjects at the moment are German, history, and French. I find it very exciting to learn new languages and to engage with the corresponding culture. Outside of school, I love meeting up with my friends to laugh and have fun together. When I need some time to myself, I retreat to my room for a short while, but after a while, I prefer to spend time with my family or friends. Generally, I'm a family person, and I don't like being alone too much. My Life and Family in Germany: I live in a small town in Germany, near the Swiss border. A typical Monday for me goes like this: I get up in the morning and get ready for school and have breakfast. Then I go to school with a friend and have classes until the afternoon. After school, I do my homework or study and eat until I have to go to tennis practice. I have tennis for an hour, and then I go home and get ready for the next day. I love spending my free time with my best friend Sara, who I met four years ago. I often go to the gym with her, go shopping, or just meet up to go for a walk or talk.My family consists of my mother, my father, my older sister, and my older brother. My parents are separated, so I live with my father. My older siblings have both moved out, but they visit regularly. My grandparents live very far away, so I don't see them very often, but we sometimes visit them during the holidays. I don't have any pets, but I love animals, so I sometimes go dog walking with my friends. This is Me: I would describe myself as rather shy at first, but as soon as I get to know my surroundings better and feel comfortable, I quickly become open with the people around me. I love talking about practically any topic. Furthermore, I consider myself very responsible and I know my limits. I love learning new things and simply having fun. I love being with people who are fun and also want to experience things in their lives. I think I would be the perfect family member because I'm very open to living differently than I'm used to and I try to make the best of every difficult situation. Furthermore, I respect all the rules I'm given and generally everyone around me. I hope we'll experience many wonderful and fun moments and have a great time together.
