Dear Host Family,
First of all, I want to thank you for accepting me to live with you, and I’m really looking forward to going on my exchange program.
I'm a Chilean boy, and I'm currently in 10th grade of high school, and I would like to tell you a little bit more about me.
I love enjoying life 100% because I think there is so much to discover out there. I would really like to explore more of the world and get to know American culture better.
Since I was a kid, I’ve loved cars, because when I look at them or drive them, they make me feel at peace, like the world stops for a second and I can just admire them.
I think this passion I have for cars can be applied to everything I’m passionate about in life, because I like understanding how the things I love works and staying connected to them.
I would also describe myself as a simple, easy-going boy who adapts well and likes hanging out with his friends. I’m very open to adapting to new routines, schedules, and ways of doing things, and I’m always willing to learn from the people around me.
My dad has his own law firm and he also likes cars. We go to car meets together, where we spend good quality time. My mom is a psychologist and works in a school with students with special needs. I also have a younger brother who is currently in 8th grade, and we are very close, even though we don’t have many things in common. We are a close family despite my parents being separated.
I played basketball for 5 years on the school team, and although I no longer play for the team, I still play during recess with my friends. This is why I would like to try basketball or any other sport at my exchange school.
I would describe Chilean culture as very influenced by Western culture. For example, our traditions, values, and everyday lifestyle reflect a lot of Western culture.
I’m excited to learn from you and also share a bit of my own culture.
Warm regards,
José Tomás
