's Letter
Dear Host Family,
Hello! My name is Ryoto, and I am very excited to have the opportunity to stay with your family as an exchange student. Thank you so much for welcoming me into your home. I would like to tell you a little about myself and what I hope to experience with you.
In Japan, I am a high school student who loves history, sports, and spending time with friends. In junior high school, I played baseball as a pitcher and served as the president of all the school sports clubs. I hope to join the baseball team at my American high school. I am a big fan of Major League Baseball, especially the New York Mets and my favorite players, Kodai Senga and Francisco Lindor. At school, I often talk about MLB, and my enthusiasm has even inspired some friends to become baseball fans. If anyone in your family enjoys baseball, I would love to watch a game together—either on TV or at a stadium! I also enjoy staying active and have played tennis and swum in the past.
I have visited the U.S. twice for short-term study programs and was impressed by how classes were taught and how confidently students shared their ideas. I truly enjoyed experiencing American culture in everyday life and through conversations, but since those stays were short, I now want to experience everyday life more deeply. One of my favorite memories was joining a BBQ with my host family—it was so different from Japan! I would love to do that again with you and maybe cook some Japanese food or desserts in return. I enjoy baking traditional Japanese sweets such as manju and matcha muffins, which my family and friends love.
At home in Japan, I live with my parents, just the three of us. My father enjoys playing tennis and cooking, and my mother recently started going to the gym. We love traveling together, exploring new places, enjoying delicious food, and sightseeing both in Japan and abroad.
I also love history and have visited many Japanese castles and craft centers. My favorites are Yosegi-Zaiku from Hakone and Ryukyu glass from Okinawa, both showing the beauty of Japanese tradition. I would love to share these aspects of my culture with you.
In the future, I hope to study international relations or cultural studies and help connect Japan with the world. Thank you again for opening your home and your hearts to me. I look forward to spending time together, sharing cultures, and creating wonderful memories.
Sincerely,
Ryoto
