Dear Host family,
Thank you so much for taking part in the exchange year programme and welcoming me into your home.
I´m Laura and I´m from Spain. I am so excited to be part of your family and getting to know you better, your traditions and getting to know American culture. I describe myself as organised, creative and consistent. I guess keeping things organised has always helped me to don´t stress out and help me focus. Since I was really little I've always loved to paint and create new ideas and I guess that has never changed. I describe myself as consistent because when I want to reach my goals I would do everything possible in my hands for it. I´m also always open to help people, since I can remember helping people has always made me feel good just by explaining them a maths exercise they don´t understand or helping them when they are going through a hard time, I think it’s just wonderful when you see a smile in their face after it or when they thank you for it.
I like to play volleyball and I would love to continue playing it there because this sport has always made me feel the best about myself. I also would be open to join other new sports or clubs and experience new things I wouldn’t have experienced here.
My family and friends often describe me as polite, responsible and that they can trust me.
In my free time I enjoy playing volleyball, painting, hanging out with my friends or just getting to know a new place in my city because there is always a new place to be discovered.
Spending time with my family and friends is important for me and I really enjoy it. We sometimes go for a walk, cook together new recipes, play boardgames or just talk between us, I really enjoy these conversations and sometimes I can´t stop laughing. They just make me feel loved.
I´m a girl that has always been a good student and is focused on her studies but also loves to learn new things.
During my time in the USA, I would love to experience football games, because they've always seemed like a dream for me and in general experience the American sports culture. I also would like to experience home coming and spirit week and just choosing my dress for the dance and getting to see with my own eyes how the dance really is.
I would love to join family activities like shared meals or movie nights. It also would be wonderful if I could cook you some Spanish food and teach you other things about my culture.
I would be a great member for your family because of my adaptability and attitude. I have already done an exchange student program when I was 11 years old . I spent 3 months in Ireland with a host family so I already know what it is to be in a family that is not mine and adapt to their way of life. I know that sometimes especially the first weeks can be hard but everything is worth the new experiences and the good times you have during this exchange year and all the new things you get to do.
Thank you so much for considering me. I’m willing to be part of your family and get to know you.
Regards,
Laura
