Dear host family,
Thank you so much for being willing to participate in this universal student program
and accepting me to live with your family.
I am a french girl and I am in my sophomore year. I am a very curious person and I
love to try new things and meet new people. I am very observant and mindful to
other people's feelings. I want to explore the world, live a lot of exciting things and
discover different lifestyles. I am eager to learn about the american culture with you.
I am a honest, determined, creative and calm person. I love art in general, but I also
enjoy playing sports such as badminton, table tennis and basketball. I wish to join
school clubs to be able to practice different and new activities and meet a lot of
people, as well as participing in events and volunteering. It makes me happy to help
other people and bring a smile to them!
I like the japanese culture and language. I love music, and my favorite artist is Lana
del Rey. I have played the piano since 9th grade, and I love learning new pieces and
playing classical and modern melodies. I am interested in singing, I like to read
(especially japanese comics) as well. I also draw, and I wish to learn a lot of different
drawing techniques such as paint, digital and so on. I enjoy playing video-games and
board/card games with friends and family.
My dad is a passionated winemaker and is interested in history, he reads a lot of
books. My mom works with my dad, she likes to sing (especially opera) and running. I
have two older sisters. My first older sister is 3 years older than me and she is on her
first year in medicine school. My other older sister is 6 years older than me and she is
on her 4th years in psychology studies. We all three have a great relationship and we
laugh a lot together! Our family is united and the atmosphere is always warm and
comforting, we are very close to each other.
I would love to share with my host family the fun-loving french culture, it has a lot of
interesting traditions. For example, the 2nd of february, we gather with family to
enjoy "crêpes" and in the beginning of march, we celebrate "Mardi gras" which is a
carnaval with lively music and colorful costumes and decorations. So, France is a
country where dinner is a moment to share with others, and we love to enjoy the
present moment. I would be very glad to share with you the knowledge of the dishes
pastries, as well as the beauty of the music, the art etc. of the french culture!
I am very excited to become a part of your family, I believe I will have a lot of
wonderful memories with you and my future new friends as well as a better
understanding of the american culture! I am very grateful for the opportunity I am
given and I am excited to meet you!
Warm Regards,
Lucie
