Dear Host Family, Hi, my name is Joao, I am from Brazil, and I am very excited to go study in the United States. I really want to learn about your culture and traditions, experience American school life, and make friends that I can keep for a lifetime. Doing an exchange program has been a dream of mine since I was a child, because I used to watch many American series and movies—especially Spider-Man, Batman, Iron Man, and others. This desire grew even stronger when I started studying English and American culture at school, and also when my best friend went on an exchange program and told me all about his daily life in the United States, how his host family welcomed him, and the friends he made both in the program and at school. In my free time, I enjoy playing videogames, listening to music, practicing sports, and spending time with my family and friends. I am very excited to learn more about your culture, your traditions, and your daily life. I also hope to share a bit of my own culture with you, including its food, music, and customs. I believe that living with a host family is a wonderful way to build meaningful connections and learn from one another.
