MARIA AMELIA

's Letter

Dear Host Family, Thank you so much for being willing to participate in the exchange program and accepting me to live with your family. I am a 16-year-old Brazilian girl and I am currently finishing the Junior year. My biggest dream is to visit and explore the world, including the USA. I want to learn more about the American culture, improve both myself and my English, and create good memories there with you. I love many things, but expecially reading books, learning new things and listening to music. I would describe myself as an academic, caring, emotional and gentle person. I enjoy playing sports, such as swimming, soccer, beach tennis and handball. I speak two languages, Portuguese and English, and I look forward to becoming fluent in English. I would like to explore a lot of places in the city, meet new people and learn about the local culture, while also sharing my own culture and lifestyle with your family. My favorite school subject is History. In my opinion, is fascinating to learn about what happened in our world in the past, and how it affects our nowadays life. Also, since I was a kid I have the dream to visit plenty of countries and learn about their cultures. If it were possible I would live in every city in the world just to experience what life is like there. My dad is an electronics technician and is passionate about trucks and cars. My mom is a full-time mother and a dentist, and she loves spending time with her family. My younger sister is seven years younger than me and my older sister is nine years older. We are a close family and I hope to become a part of your family as well. I'll be happy to share the beauty of the Brazilian culture with you - by teaching you how to make some traditional brazilian foods, like "coxinha" or "brigadeiro", and sharing traditional Brazilian songs. I'm very excited to become a part of your family! I believe I'll take amazing photos and create unforgettable memories with you and my new friends in North America. Warm Regards, Maria Amelia
