Hi, I'm Rimke and I'm super excited for my exchange year.
I am looking forward to learn new things and culture. My favorite sport is tennis, I practice twice a week and I also like to play tennis in my spare time with family or friends. I play competition here in the Netherlands and then I am on the road with my tennis buddies every Sunday to play several matches.
I like to listen to music and I also really enjoy singing. I used to be in a musical club and with them we did performances, but I left so that I could sing more in my spare time or do fun things. I like to do a lot with my older brother Bo and my younger sister Hiske because I think it's super fun and I never have to feel alone at home because they are always there and always want to do things with me.
I also like to do a lot with the whole family, such as playing games, eating something tasty somewhere, going to an amusement park or watching a nice movie together. I also like to go on holiday with the whole family and discover new countries and of course enjoy the sun and the beach.
We also like to go to Spain during the holidays where we have our holiday home. This is very nice because we also have beautiful moments together with the family and fully enjoy the Spanish culture and delicious food. I love going out for dinner to a restaurant, I like to try new things, this is also something I like to do with my family, I can really enjoy it immensely. Of course, my friends from the Netherlands also come to Spain with their parents. Being together is something I really like.
I also like to take a nice walk in the woods and enjoy nature with the family and of course our two dogs. Our dogs are cocker spaniels, one is called Poppy and the other is called Flossie. I absolutely love these two and like to cuddle with them. Poppy is 7 years old and Flossie is now one and a half. With Flossie we are going to try to get a nest with puppies, I can't wait for it to happen and hopefully it will work and we will probably keep a puppy then.
I also really like being creative, such as painting or crafts.
Our family loves Christmas and often can't wait to put up the Christmas tree and decorate everything in the house. It always gives such a wonderful warm feeling in the house, nice and cozy with each other.
At home I love to bake cake in the kitchen. I have a cookbook from which I often make things, but I also like to just try things out.
In the village where I come from, we also celebrate carnival every year in February or March, everyone dresses up and there is a party for four days. I do this together with my friends from school or other friends I have known for years. We are often busy weeks in advance with choosing clothes and a theme about how we are going to dress up. It's so much fun and really something I grew up with.
I've been dreaming for years of doing an exchange year in America and now I'm finally at the age where it's possible. I hope to become independent by making this journey and also learn to stand on my own two feet. Hopefully it will also give me insights about my future and what I want to do later. The journey will broaden my horizons because I am open to learn and discover many new things.
I can't wait to get to know and meet you!
