Dear Host Family,
Thank you very much for being part of the exchange program and for giving me the chance to live with your family. My name is Max, and I come from a big city in Germany. I am a polite and helpful person, and I’m really looking forward to meeting you and becoming a part of your everyday life.
I have many hobbies and interests. Some of them are judo, swimming, building with Lego, watching anime or reading manga, and spending time with my friends. I enjoy trying new things and learning from other people. During my stay, I want to get to know American culture and improve my English as much as possible. I will also do my best to help in the household and to be a positive member of your family.
I would like to attend high school and live with an American family because I love meeting new people and making new experiences. I’ve seen the American way of life in movies and TV shows, and I find it very exciting. I want to learn how people in the U.S. live, what school life is like there, and how it feels to be part of a family with different traditions.
In my home country, I have a very good relationship with my parents. I live together with them and my two younger brothers, who are a bit younger than me. We get along very well and have similar interests. Even though I live in a big city, I also enjoy nature. My family often does nice trips together, and we love traveling. One of my favorite trips is our skiing vacation during the winter holidays because I really enjoy skiing. We also have a small vacation house at the Baltic Sea, which is a peaceful place where I can relax.
At school, I try to do my best and stay motivated. I like learning new subjects, especially history and politics, because I find it interesting to understand how the world has changed and how people and countries developed. In the future, I don’t have exact career plans yet. My first goal is to finish school and later study at a university. I once did an internship in a stationery store, which was a good experience, but I don’t think that’s what I want to do for my whole life. I would like to find a job where I can make other people happy with what I do.When I was a small child, I wanted to become a cook, because I liked helping in the kitchen and creating something tasty for others.
I’m very excited to meet you and to become part of your family. I hope we will have a great time together, share many experiences, and learn from each other. Thank you for opening your home to me — I really appreciate it and can’t wait to get to know you in person.
Warm regards,
Max
