's Letter

Dear Host Family, I’m Aurora and I’m from Italy. First of all, I would like to thank you for welcoming me into your home and into your lives. I know that opening your family to someone from another country is a generous choice, and I am very grateful for this opportunity. I have chosen to spend an exchange year because I believe it will be an experience that will help me grow, discover a new culture, and create connections that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I am really curious and ready to share my own traditions while learning yours. I love spending time with others, listening to their stories, and sharing my own. I can also be determined and responsible, especially when I have goals to reach. I also love doing sport. When I was young I did synchronised swimming but now I practice volleyball and this has become one of my biggest passions. Playing has taught me the value of teamwork and trust, and it has given me some of my closest friendships. Another activity I enjoy is cooking: preparing meals makes me feel creative and connected to the people around me, and I would love to share some Italian recipes with you. At home, I live with my parents, Andrea and Alessia, and my twin sister, Ginevra. Being a twin is very special, because we share many experiences and support each other every day. My family is very important to me, and I am sure they will be happy to know that I will find in you a second family during my exchange year. A normal day for me in Italy is divided between school, studying, volleyball practice and the outings with my friend. I also like to spend time with my classmates and friends, and I always try to dedicate some moments to my family. I imagine that life with you will be different in many ways, and I am really looking forward to adapting to your daily routine and contributing to your family life. I don’t expect everything to be easy, but I am ready to do my best, help at home, and become a true member of your family. I am also very curious about you! What do you usually do together as a family? Do you have special traditions or activities you like to share? What does a typical day look like in your home? I would also love to know if there are any sports, hobbies, or local places that are important to you, because I am really excited to be part of your daily life. Thank you again for giving me this chance. I am sure we will create beautiful memories together. Love, Aurora.
