's Letter

Dear host family, My name is Lennart, but I prefer being called Lenny. And I want to embark on my greatest adventure yet in the summer of 2026: a school year abroad in the USA. My parents and I spent a lot of time researching and considering which country would be best for this. From the very beginning, my heart has been set on the USA. Well-known films and series are almost always set in the USA. That's why I've encountered this country frequently. I've long dreamed of living there for a while and getting to know the people, their culture, school life, the diverse landscape, and everyday American life. I would therefore be delighted to become part of your family during my stay. To make this possible, I would like to introduce myself a little more: I am a friendly, rather quiet person, yet very open-minded and interested in other people and new things. This is one of the reasons why I would like to spend a school year in the USA – in addition to the goal of significantly improving my English during this time. I enjoy spending my free time with my friends or family, which includes my parents and grandparents, my younger sister, and our cat. I love to laugh, am very sociable, independent and helpful and I adapt well to different personalities. In september 2025 I'm currently in the 10th grade at a high school. I enjoy going to school. But at the moment I don't have any idea yet what I want to do later in my career. Perhaps it will be something that allows me to travel and visit other countries. Geography has always been one of my favorite subjects, and I've always felt a little bit of wanderlust. But I also really like being at home because I have a loving family here and my hobby: I've been playing soccer in a club for 9 years now. I really enjoy this sport. I'm also interested in other sports. During my exchange year, I'd like to try basketball or American Football. I think that could be a good fit for me. For the past few months, I've also been going to the gym to stay fit and healthy. When I'm not at school, soccer practice, at the gym, or out with friends, I really enjoy listening to music and watching TV shows. I also occasionally prepare small snacks and recipes in the kitchen. I can't really cook, but I enjoy trying new things here and there. At home, I also help out with the housework. Therefore, I naturally offer support to my host family and look forward to becoming actively involved in family life. I hope you now have a good first impression of me and are curious to get to know me. I would be very happy. Finally, thank you very much again for taking the time to read my letter. Maybe we'll see each other soon. Best wishes and kind regards. Lennart
