Cecilie

's Letter

Dear future host family… My name is Cecilie, I'm a girl from Denmark and I am very happy and excited for having the opportunity to spend a whole year on exchange in America with you guys. I want to go on exchange because I'm sure that it would be an amazing experience, and I want to improve my language skills. I also think that this would be a great opportunity to be more outgoing and social. I want to step out of my comfort zone, and be more independent. The reason why I chose to do my exchange in America is because I'm very curious about the culture and I've always wanted to know more about it. Not only that but I would also like to know what the American lifestyle is like compared to the lifestyle in my own country, and how it is to go to an American high school. I also think that America would be a great place to do my exchange because I've heard from a lot of people that Americans are really friendly, open and helpful. My life in Denmark is very good and I like it here. I have a mom and a dad but no siblings. I live with my mom in an apartment, but visit my dads every other weekend and also see him sometimes in the normal day. Both of my parents work a fulltime job. Even though they don't live together their relationship with each other is still good, and I have a good relationship with both of my parents. I'm sure life in america is gonna be different then life in denmark but i am excited to try something new. Something about me… I would describe myself as a very calm person, at first I might not talk much but when you get to know me better I become more open. In my spare time the thing I enjoy most is spending time with my friends, we usually spend time together after school and on the weekends. A lot of times when we are together we don't make any plans before, but we always figure out something to do like hang out at one of our places, go for a walk, shopping or finding some place to eat. But no matter what it is we are always having fun and laughing together. I don't do any sports but I like to read books, especially romance novels. Often when I want to relax I'll grab a book and read. Another thing that I also enjoy doing is baking because it's relaxing, and I like to try new recipes. The best part about baking is that you can listen to music while doing it which is one thing that I also really enjoy. I am not really a big planner even though I can plan things I like to be spontaneous, like going on an unexpected trip or grocery shopping in the supermarket. About me as a person… I'm very positive and friendly and I care a lot about people around me. I'm always there for my friends when they need to talk, just like they're always there for me. I'm also very patient during stressful moments and I always think twice before I say anything. Something I value a lot is honesty and trust. I know from home that if I ever do something stupid it's better to tell the truth than lie. And that's also why my parents have a lot of trust in me. I would like for you guys to always be honest with me and tell me if there's something I need to do differently or be better at. I'm also very respectful and honest. If I get asked my opinion about something I'll always tell the truth. I'm really looking forward to spending this year with you guys and experiencing a new culture and lifestyle. I'm sure we are gonna have an amazing experience together, and I can't wait to get to know you better. Thank you for giving me this amazing opportunity. I hope we're gonna have a great year together. Warm regards Cecilie :)
