Dear Host Family,
My name is Louis and actually I am in 9* grade. I am a student passionate about discovering new cultures, new places and new peoples. Living with you would help me to learn and discover the depth about your culture and understand your lifestyle and becoming bilingual, while sharing mine. I am sure this experience will have a huge impact on my levels in English. Ever since I was little I have always been curious about the world and all cultures so I read many books and seen many movies and would love to travel. I have always been attracted to the different lifestyles. I had the chance to visit several countries, and each time it was unforgettable experiences.
However, nothing better than total immersion in a country, to truly understand its specificities and its history. It is with this in my mind, that I would like to be considered as a full member of your family. To share daily moments and learn directly from you and your environment.
My main motivation is the idea of improving my practice of your language. Although I already have basics in English, living in the heart of your country and practicing the language on a daily basis would be a means of considerable progress, so that I can obviously master the grammatical and lexical plan, but also absorb it in its cultural context, its humor, its subtleties.. Furthermore, this experience would not only help me feel more comfortable with the language but also allow me to build strong relationships with people who share similar values, habits, and interests as mine. I am sure that this would enrich both of our lives after spending a year together. Also, I really want to learn more about your culture and way of life. I believe that living in another country is the best way to overcome stereotypes about different cultures or lifestyles. Living in a different country helps us understand what brings us together and what makes us different, while also exposing us to new ways of thinking.
One of my biggest passions is cooking, especially baking, which I love doing with my family. The opportunity to taste your traditional dishes and discover new recipes excites me a lot. I am also curious about your customs and traditions, especially those related to celebrations, family life, school, and hobbies. I am lucky to live in a very diverse environment in France, but living in your country would allow me to fully experience your culture.
As for my hobbies, I am a big fan of dance, especially classical and contemporary dance. It helps me express myself, be creative, and develop values like discipline and teamwork However, my greatest passion is fashion. I love aesthetics, design, and the meaning behind each piece of clothing or accessory. I also enjoy walking around, discovering new places, visiting exhibitions and museums, learning about history and art, and even going shopping. Sometimes, I just like to relax, listen to music, or take pictures, which is my way of capturing little moments in life and sharing them with others.
Of course, like everyone, I have a few small fears. For example, I am not very comfortable with spiders or snakes. Also, even though I love food, I am not a fan of some things like pickles or vinegar. But I always try to stay open to new experiences because discovering different things is part of the beauty of cultural exchanges.
I believe that my personality helps me adapt easily to new environments. I am a calm and patient person, but also very curious. I love talking with people and learning from them. I can be quite shy, which is funny because I also love to talk a lot. I always try to be kind and respectful to those I meet, and I truly believe that every human connection helps us grow. My creativity, wisdom, and easygoing nature help me take a step back when needed while staying open and excited about new experiences.
I sincerely thank you for taking the time to consider my application.
Best regards,
Louis
