Dear American Family,
Hello, my name is Ela. I’m 16 years old, and I live with my mom, my older brother, and my younger sister. One of the things we do most as a family is watching TV shows or movies together. We never miss the newest releases. Also, during the spring and summer months, it’s a tradition in our family to go on picnics. Everyone joins, including my aunts and uncles. We have a barbecue and play games all together.
In our family, responsibilities are fairly balanced. Since my brother works, he usually takes care of his own stuff. My mom is mostly responsible for cooking, and I help with the cleaning. Actually, we don’t have fixed tasks, but everyone helps out and supports one another. Speaking for myself, I always try to tidy up my room in the morning so my mom doesn’t have to deal with it. After school, I vacuum the house and take out the trash. I also help my mom prepare dinner and clean up afterward. I always try to support her because she already gets very tired during the day.
As for my interests, one of my favorite things is spending time with my friends. We always try to plan new and different outings. One day, we go to a Christmas market; another day, we visit second-hand bookstores. Doing activities out of the ordinary is so refreshing for us. Of course, there are also times when we just sit, drink coffee, and chat. I love the atmosphere we create during those moments.
The city I live in has the largest population in the country and is extremely crowded. I was born and raised here, but when I go to university, I’d like to move to a city that’s social yet calmer and closer to nature. I might struggle in a rural place, so I’m interested in well-developed but peaceful cities.
My future career goal is to become a successful lawyer. I hope I can achieve this because I feel like I was born for this profession. However, I don’t want to be like some lawyers I see who only focus on their jobs. I want to have different hobbies, travel the world, and speak several languages. One of the languages I most want to learn is French.
Currently, we study it as a second language at school, but only at a basic level. I hope to improve it in the future.
There’s so much more I’d like to share, but I hope I can tell you all about it in person someday. Thank you for reading my letter. I’m very excited to meet you!
Ela
