Ghazal
's Letter
Dear American Family,
First and foremost, I want to sincerely thank you for taking the time and effort to consider welcoming me into your home and family. My name is Ghazal, which means "a strong, kind woman" in Arabic. I truly believe that small actions can create a big
impact, and because of that, I always strive to approach everything I do with kindness and care.
I have a deep passion for learning and exploring. My interests range from science, arts, and languages to traveling there's so much to discover in the world, and I believe in trying everything at least once. I aim to make the most of every opportunity, always approaching life with a smile and a positive mindset.
I'm the oldest of four siblings and share a close bond with each of them. My 13-year-old brother and I enjoy watching movies, listening to music, and debating (we both love sharing opinions!). My 10-year-old brother and I bond over our love for sports,
especially soccer and Formula 1, and our shared interest in math. My youngest sibling is my 2-year-old sister, who I adore. We look alike except for her blonde hair-she's my little angel.
My mom and I share a special bond; we're like best friends. My dad and I are also close; he's my go-to person for everything. My family shares a love for learning, and it's fun listening to each of them talk about new things. We usually have movie nights on Saturdays, which I always look forward to.
I'd describe myself as a mix of social and introverted. I enjoy meeting new people and making friends, but I also value quiet moments. As a gifted child, I've always been encouraged to embrace who I am. Attending a center for gifted and talented students
was one of the best experiences of my life-it gave me a sense of belonging and connected me with inspiring teachers and peers. I'm currently part of a gifted class in high school, which continues to motivate me.
I'm usually busy, so I don't hang out often, but when I do, I spend time with my closest friends. Nardeen, whom I've known since I was 3 years old, is an amazing person. We were inseparable as kids but went to different schools as we grew older. Thankfully,
we reconnected later in life and now enjoy activities like shopping and visiting museums. Another close friend, Aseel, is one of my biggest supporters alongside Nardeen and my family. She's incredibly smart, and I deeply admire her. We share a love for books, and our conversations are endless and meaningful-she truly understands me.
My hometown is an ancient place,it dates back to 3000 BC. It once thrived as a bustling trade hub along a major route, with ahistoric market that now lies buried beneath the town. It's known for its people's intelligence and passion for learning-a legacy I'mproud to carry in my blood!
Since I was young, I've dreamed of studying in the United States. My goal is to attend a prestigious university and maybe one daywork in the work for the aerospace industry. While these are big dreams, I'm fully committed to doing my best to achieve them!
Thank you again for considering me to be a part of your family. I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to learning from this exchange experience, building meaningful connections, and embracing new cultures.
Sincerely,
Ghazal
