Hussein 'Courtois'

's Letter

Dear host family, I am excited to write to you about my self and who I am. I am Hussein and my friends call me "Courtois" like the goalkeeper of Real Madrid because I am a good goalkeeper too, and I am an Egyptian student. I live beside the school, so it takes me about 10 minutes to arrive. My dad drives me and my brothers to the school. I have 2 younger brothers, and they are 11 years old and 7 years old, and we enjoy playing soccer and doing many activities together, and I have a kitten called" Karakiri ". It's 4 months old and I am the one responsible for it's litter box. I am a TV presenter. I present a children program and I presented many conferences with youth and sports ministry before, like the national youth conference, and I am a journalist at a children magazine, and I presented a ceremony with them before, and it was in cooperation with youth and sports ministry and the ceremony was attended by the youth and sports minister, the magazine's director. I also hosted a championship in the pentathlon and an international judge in the pentathlon on one of the biggest channels of Egypt. I volunteer sometimes with my family with some institutes and other times I volunteer with youth and sports ministry because I took a training course with the ministry called "Junior Volunteer". They taught us the basics of volunteering in it and after it they made us volunteer in many events to gain experience. I practiced gymnastics for 5 and a half years and I got a gold medal in gymnastics governorate championship and another gold medal in the national championship and I got a bronze medal in the next year's governorate championship and another bronze medal in the national championship. Then, I practiced kung-fu for a year and I got a gold medal in the governorate kung-fu championship and I practiced pentathlon for 2 years but I didn't participate in any championship, and now I am playing soccer, but I don't have any trophies yet. I like cooking and sometimes I cook breakfast or lunch or dinner and I make delicious pancakes that I would like you to try. My responsibilities at home are taking out the rubbish and cleaning my room and I help my mother in cooking and in doing the chores, and sometimes I do the dishes and I take care of my brothers when my mom and dad are not at home. I like spending my time with my friends. I have many friends and we all like playing soccer together. On every last day of the school year we have to play soccer. I am a goalkeeper, and sometimes I win after saving a thousand shot, but sometimes I lose when I get tired and not able to play any more, and because most of my friends are attackers, only 2 or 3 are defenders, so we don't have the best defending sometimes. I live in a big crowded city, but the place I live in is a quiet place. I have a beautiful garden in front of my house that has some trees and some palm trees in it that we take care of. I live close to an old religious building and I have fresh air because of our garden. I got all the public transportation services in my city. I want to be a pro goalkeeper when I grow up and play for Real Madrid and be the goalkeeper of my national team and I want to win so many trophies with them, like the UCL and the World Cup. I went to many camps with Youth and sports ministry and I made many friends from all the governorates of Egypt and learnt more about their cultures and I wanted to know more about the cultures and make new friends from other countries and not only from Egypt. I would like to know more about American culture because I don't like to take my information about other cultures from the movies because it is not a good source of information and I want to make new friends in the USA. This experience is also going to improve my English and I could teach them some Arabic or to anyone if they wanted, as a way of cultural exchange. I could learn more about the American culture from them and I want to learn more about USA history by going to the library and reading books about USA history or by seeing some documentary films. I want to know what are the differences and the similarities between the Egyptian culture and the American culture. And I want to try new things in America, like American football, because it's not available in Egypt. Thank you for hosting me and I wish that we have good time together. So excited to meet you and share this amazing experience. Sincerely, Hussein
