's Letter

Dear American Family, I am Aljood and I am eager to introduce myself and my interests to potentially have the opportunity to be an exchange student at the YES program. My family consists of me, my parents, and my brother. We cherish our quality time together, spending our time engaging in activities such as baking, and since we have a farm, we often visit and pick up fruits and vegetables in their season. We also had two cats a while back and we used to play with them and enjoy our times together! While we enjoy spending our quality time together, we also have chores and responsibilities for each member of the family. I usually collect the laundry and my mom helps me with washing them, and as I enjoy cooking and baking, I also cook launch and dinner, and a snack sometimes. My mom has a keen interest for plants too, so she makes me water the plants weekly. These responsibilities had taught me several things such as how teamwork -even in doing chores- is always the dream work. Aside from my school subjects, I keep myself entertained with my hobbies and interests that revolve around my passion for space sciences and aerospace engineering, as I enjoy reading articles and scientific papers around them, I also enjoy writing and graphic designing. Alongside my hobbies, I am lucky to have a group of friends to share those interests with. We gather once in a while and spend our time solving puzzles, watching sci-fi movies, and baking. We also love exploring, so when we're curious about something, we don't hesitate, asking or searching about it immediately. Another thing we enjoy doing together is playing a game called Dress to Impress, which is a Roblox game to showcase our fashion. I live in an amazing city next to the beach, so when the weather is nice, I go on a walk with my family and friends and have a picnic or a barbecue together. My city also holds a lot of great minds, fostered by the opportunities found in it. I plan to pursue an aerospace engineering major, or join an aviation school, as I am intrigued by the contributions of women in aviation and aerospace industries. My journey of affection for aviation and aerospace engineering started when I got selected to join a space camp which was an extraordinary experience, meeting various NASA astronauts. I want my host family to know that my enthusiasm for cooking led me to understanding more about my cultural traditions and food, making me thrilled to share our traditional food recipes together. The exchange year will potentially help me know more about different cultures, exchange and expand my knowledge, help me strengthen my skills such as social skills and problem solving, and make me more independent.
