Nene
's Letter
Dear American Family,
I hope that this letter finds you well. My name is Nene Noura, I'm 16 years old and I am very excited about the possibility of staying with you. I am the youngest in a house full of girls with my mom and two older sisters. My family and I enjoy going to
places together such as restaurants, or just taking walks together in the evening. I usually do most of my activities with my older sister were we paint, draw and visit art museums. As I am the youngest in my house, I don't really have much responsibilities except for having good grades at school. However, I always try my best to help everyone in the house by doing some chores like cleaning, cooking, running some errands if needed or buying groceries at the supermarket and also babysitting the kids that come over at my house. None of those are my responsibilities but I still do it with pleasure. I have a lot of interests such as reading,
drawing, painting, cooking, singing and listening to music. I also enjoy watching sports like ice-skating and horse riding. My closest friends are the ones I met in school and now we still hangout from time to time even though I changed school this year. In this friend group we are six people and I am the oldest, so I'm considered as the mother of the group which is funny to me because they're all taller than me. We love to go to each other's house and hangout in places like the beach or the park. We often do picnics and go to amusement parks together, but most of the time we bake in one of my friend's kitchens. The city I live in is fun and if I had to describe it, I'd say that it is full of life. The people living in my city are very kind and full of hospitality. My city has one of the most beautiful monuments in Africa. Where I live is always vibrant and alive. Even thought I am still thinking about the career that I would like to have, I believe the one that would suit me the most would be civil engineering. I deeply think that making buildings that are sustainable for our environment would change a lot of lives not only for humans but also for animals and for the world's safety and well-being. I would love to be the CEO of my own company that will be dedicated to buildings, and be a role model for aspiring engineers everywhere. I aim to lead innovative projects that will improve urban living and promote sustainability. I am also motivated to empower women in the same field as me.
Dear family, I am more than eager to learn about your culture, your way of living, as well as participating in your traditions. I love cooking so I hope that I will have the chance to share and teach you guys about my country's food and to learn about yours as I believe that it is a great way to bond. With this exchange year, I hope that we will be able the create a bond that even miles and oceans won't destroy. I would like to meet new people, discover new places and get out of my comfort zone. Not only would you and I will learn a lot about each other, but also people from my country as my experience will be shared with everyone by my voice and memories. I can't wait for us to experience unforgettable moments!
Warmest salutations,
Nene.
