Dear American Family,
I am Dakshinya, a 10th-grade student . I come from a small, happy nuclear family where love, positive relationships, and a strong sense of togetherness make life fulfilling. My father is a traditional weaver, and my mother, a homemaker, assists with weaving during festival times. I have a younger brother in 8th grade. In my free time, I enjoy reading books, listening to music, and playing carrom and cricket. I also love helping my mother with weaving threads and take pride in supporting others whenever possible. My adaptability allows me to adjust easily to new environments, and I am determined to achieve success so I can help those facing challenges.
Living in a residential school has taught me the value of teamwork and friendship. I enjoy spending time with my peers playing puzzle games, helping with studies, and creating lasting memories. I visit my home once a month and deeply appreciate the peaceful, natural beauty of my village. While there, I love playing outdoor games like cricket and kho-kho with my hometown friends.
Through the YES program, I look forward to staying with a host family and learning about the U.S. educational system, practical life, culture, and daily lifestyle. I hope to gain new experiences, enhance my communication and social skills, and build self-confidence. I am eager to develop my leadership abilities, embrace cultural exchanges, and create meaningful memories as I embark on this exciting journey.
Dakshinya
