Dear future host Family,
First of all I would like to say a big thank you for giving me the possibility to live with you for a whole year and to become a part of your family and I'm incredibly grateful for that. Unfortunately, I don‘t know you and because of that I would like to tell you more about myself, why I would like visit the United States and much more.
My name is Juli. I live with my two little brothers Jonathan and Frederik and my parents in a suburb from a big city in Germany. At our home, everyone has a some responsibilities. My responsibilities are to take care of our rabbits, clean my room and take out the trash. I often look after my two brothers when my parents are not there or sometimes cook lunch for everyone. Maybe I could cook some typical German dishes or my speciality - vegetarian dishes for you? But I think if you do the chores together, for example setting the table, it can be a lot of fun. I am a person who enjoys family life very much, I love skating with my younger brothers and cooking something with them. I also really like having dinner together with my family. During that time everyone talks about their day and we laugh together.
Currently, I visit a middle and high school (Germany: "Gymnasium"). I am very happy with my school performance. My favorite subjects are Art, Sports and English. What I like about sports is that you can really let off steam during school time. Art also gives me a break from everyday life, because I can focus on my picture and just paint, and I enjoy English because I can just talk. I am already very excited about what kind of subjects I can take part in the US and hich ones I will be able to choose.
I have diverse hobbies, but one of them is to play the trumpet. I have played it for 3 years now and I take trumpet lessons at a church organization and we often play with this group at church services or other Christian events. I also love being on stage and that's why I do drama in a drama club at my school. I love acting because it gives you an escape from everyday life. You have to concentrate on your role otherwise it wouldn't be authentic. I also love being creative. I made things for my Playmobil figures at an early age. Even though I don't play with Playmobil figures anymore, I still paint pictures or love to redecorate my room. I also make things for our two rabbits Rapunzel and Snow White from time to time. We have had our two rabbits for two years now, I still love playing with them and teaching them new tricks. I also love protecting nature and helping others . In terms of sport, I always compete in cross-country races. For example, I have already run the City Mini Marathon (approx. 4.5 km) twice and our school team took 1st and 2nd place in the “high and middle school girls” category. It might be great to participate in a cross country team in the US.
I'm really looking forward to getting to know you, having a great time with you, improving my English and being part of this wonderful culture of yours. That's exactly why I want to go to the USA. I want to get to know your culture better, your food, your lifestyle and experience your school system.
Thank you for reading my letter. I hope we see each other soon
Juli
