Dear Host Family, Thank you so much for being willing to participate in the exchange program and giving students like me the opportunity to live with your family. I am Bastian, a teenage boy from germany, and I am very thankful that you take the time to get to know me. I would describe myself as an open-minded and friendly person. I like learning new things and meeting new people. Also, I love to be active and to have fun with my friends. I am loyal to my friends and approach other openly and with interest. In my free-time, I love playing soccer, being outside with my friends and playing basketball with them, for example. In the winter, my family and I go skiing in Austria every year. I started skiing when I was five years old. Besides, I like to watch movies and series, or anime from time to time. As well, I like watching Soccer- and NBA Matches. Furthermore, I like music especially American Rap and German Rap. My favorite song is “My Eyes” from Travis Scott. I speak German, English and a little French. I want to improve my English skills in the USA to choose English in my high school diploma. My first goal is to graduate from high school and then go to university. I do not know exactly what a subject to study yet, but I was considering studying to become a teacher. Although, I love Germany and the German culture, I am really looking forward to learning about the American culture, especially the food and the history. I have been interested in American culture since I was little, so to me i twould be a childhood dream come true to be in the USA. Besides, I would like to experience the American high school system with all the different sports clubs. In my opinion it is quite different to the German one. Hopefully, I get the opportunity to try different kind of sports or clubs. I also want to travel a lot in my life because I find it interesting to see separate way of life and places to be. So far, I have been to four different countries with my family: Italy, Norway, Denmark, and Austria. My favorite country of the four is Italy. I have only traveled alone within Germany so far. I would also like to visit the USA, Thailand, Mallorca, Japan, and Hawaii to learn more about these countries and their culture. Now I would like to talk about my family, I love my family and have a good relationship with my parents, Stefan and Renate, and my younger brother, Jonah. We spend a lot of time together, make trips to other cities in Germany, especially to Hamburg. Because we are soccer fans of the Hamburg sports club. I also like our family traditions, for example that we get together with the whole family at Christmas or Easter and have brunch at our grandparents' house. Of course, I have responsibilities at home as well, especially helping with the gardening or walking our dog. I also work in a car wash to earn me extra money. So, I have an idea of work responsibilities and learn to appreciate the worth of money. During the week, I take the bus to school at 6:50 am. Sometimes I ride my scooter to school. After the school I do my homework at home, spend time with my brother and cuddle with our Labrador, Kalle. Every Tuesday and Thursday I have soccer training. At the weekend I like to sleep a bit longer. Unfortunately, that is not always possible because I must start work at 8:00 am in the morning. Then I always have soccer matches in the afternoon. I usually meet my friends in the evening, or we play video games online. All right, this is me! I hope that this letter helped you to get an impression of me.
