Dear American family, my name is Jacintha. I am fifteen years old. I live with my mom, she is a single parent and a strong women and also my role-model, I love my mom more than anything and anyone in the world. I am an only child. I live in a multi-cultural country but I am Indian. My religion is Hinduism, I speak Hindi as well as Dutch fluently and have been taught Spanish and I am still learning but I have been raised with the language Dutch so I am better in Dutch than Hindi. I do love my culture, especially the food, my favorite dish from our culture is Roti which is round flat bread with chicken and potatoes and vegetables. I can make that myself too. And I love our festivals like Diwali which is the festival of lights and Holi which is the festival of colors. But not only that, we also have certain days we need to pray on to different Gods which is also really special to me because I have a close relationship with our Gods and my religion. We have two dogs and one cat. My dog her name is Shar and my cat's name is Leah. And the puppy's name is Lana from Lana del ray, she is a famous singer. Over all I do come from a big family, my mom's side as well as my dad's side of family are very big but unfortunately my parents got divorced when I was baby. I have a stepbrother and a stepsister whom I never met but I do see my stepbrother from time to time when I visit my dad on the weekends, he lives with my dad. My stepsister lives with her mom in another country, I also never met their mom either. My dad also has pets. He has cats, birds and parrots. And the parrots can even talk, they can call my dad by his name and also call him "baas" which means boss in Dutch and they can also say "lekker" every time they get food and that means delicious and they make the ambulance sound too. I love and absolutely adore animals. I like dogs, cats, birds and bunnies. I train animals. I love training animals such as dogs and cats some tricks. It is the most fun thing to do and I enjoy doing that. I have taught my pets lots of tricks and I am currently teaching them more. I also enjoy helping my mom in the garden, she does garden a lot after work. She does it as therapy for her...We go to my aunt's house on the weekends too, I have my cousins there and most of the family. We have family gatherings almost every other weekend or on special occasions. My responsibilities at home are taking care of the pets which includes feeding, bathing and walking. Sweeping and vacuum the house, doing the dishes, helping with laundry and just over all helping my mom with anything she needs help with. I have good grades, I spent most of my day busy with studies because I have exams coming up. I do have a few friends from my class and my best friend. My best friend is a Muslim and she has taught me every thing about her religion. We like going out, mostly to the mall or to car shows. We went to lots of car shows when we were on school break. I am into cars as well. I love making memories with my friends. I love having sleepovers at my best friend's house. I like going on late night drives with my mom and friends and with music on. I love listening to music. My favorite artists are Chris Brown, Drake, Arijit Singh and many more. I like doing my skincare, I am obsessed with skincare...As my future plans or studies, I want to do computer or software engineering. I want to get all my diplomas, I want to go to college or a university. I have always been interested in engineering and in computers. I am good at solving difficult problem. I love physics. During the exchange I would also like to do swimming and also try out for soccer or tennis when I get the opportunity. I want to do swimming because I really like swimming, it is one of my hobbies. Swimming is therapeutic in a way for me, I am also good at swimming and would like to continue that. I love watching soccer especially the World Cup of 2022 is when I got interested in soccer, that is why I want to try this new activity for me. I also like tennis, I have seen people play tennis before and I find that it looks really fun. I have never played tennis but I would like to try that. I am participating in this program because I have never tried anything like this, this opportunity can open a lot of doors for me. I can make lots of memories as a teenager there. I have never been to any to other country before. My goals I hope to achieve from the exchange is to make more friends there and meet new people with different cultures, experience different cultures and gain a deeper understanding of myself and the people around me. Try new activities I have never tried before, engage in new experiences.... I can even cook some dishes of my culture. I know some of my mothers recipes. I can also teach people the Hindi or Dutch language. And I hope that my American family can teach me their ways, their culture and many more. I am open to try new things and learn from them.
