's Letter

Dear Host Family, First of all, I would like to thank you very much for willing to participate in the exchange program and giving me the opportunity to live in America for a year. Both of my parents are from Afghanistan but I was born and raised in Germany. Right now, I'm in 10th grade. I'm someone who loves to explore different countries, cultures and create friendships from around the world. That's why I want so learn about America and the their culture. I enjoy reading thrillers. I'm a very reliable, out-going, open-minded, empathetic, artistic, optimistic and determined person. I love doing sports, like playing tennis, swimming or going to the gym. Also, I speak two languages fluently, German and Dari, and I'm looking forward to improve my English. Even though there aren't many sports and creative clubs at my school, I can't wait to participate in them in an American Highschool, for example cooking or volleyball classes. Cooking and baking are a lot of fun for me. I've been interested in it since I was a child. Preparing meals for my family or friends is one of my love language. I would love to show you different dishes from my country. Furthermore, I love movie nights and movie marathons. In addition, I like to capture thoughts and events in my journal. I want to attend high school and live in the U.S. with an American family because if offers me the chance for a cultural integration and personal development. Experiencing the American education system, immersing in different perspectives and building connections with an American household excites me. This experience goes beyond academics; it allows me to learn about tradition, customs and the daily life, of course. I believe that this journey will expand my communication skills, global perspective and enhance my ability to adapt. In my friend circle, I'm the one who enjoys bringing a good vibe. With an open-minded approach, I inject humor and entertainments into our gatherings. Spending quality time together is very important to me. School is also much more fun with my friends. We try to spend as much time as possible together, to collect the best memories. My parents are divorced, but they are still very good friends and respect each other a lot. My relationship to them is very close and loving. I spend the same amount of time with both of them. Communication is key for us, which is why we talk about everything, especially when it comes to any conflicts or disagreements between us to find a solution that all of us are okay with. As I saw pictures of other exchange students in America, it made me even more motivated and excited to try it out for myself. I sure we'll share unforgettable memories and create a strong bond. I can’t wait to get to know you ! Warm Regards, Mina
