Thais

's Letter

Dear host family, My name is Thaïs, I'm 15 years old. I am of French and Turkish nationality: French from my mom and Turkish from my dad that is why adapting to a new culture isn't complicated because I'm already bi-cultural. I am the youngest of my family : we are a family of five. There's my dad Hakan, my mom Isabelle, my older sister Selma, who is 20 years old, my brother Altaï, who is 17 years old, and finally, there's me, Thaïs. In my family we love a lot to do activities together and discover new things. I love spending time with my friends, going shopping with them, or just meeting up without having anything specific planned. I am an outgoing girl, always curious and ready to discover new things, which is why I want to participate in this program. It would bring me a real-life experience that one can only have once in a lifetime. The desires for which I would like to go to the United States and to improve my language skills, contribute to personal development to maybe work abroad. Moreover, I chose to go to the United States because it is a country that I find very fascinating and different from France. Learning another culture seems super interesting to me. As I mentioned, I have always been curious to explore this country, regardless of the region, as each region is unique and deserves to be discovered! Living the "American dream" is one of my biggest dreams, and studying in an American high school for a year is just magical. I am incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to live this experience, and I will never thank my parents enough. What made me want to go to the United States is also their work methodology, so different from France. Studying in the United States provides a unique opportunity to acquire a quality education. Interacting with students from around the world contributes significantly, in my opinion, to personal development. Furthermore, I am quite sociable and adapt quickly to new experiences; I make friends rather easily. I love cooking, and I would be delighted to cook you some typical French dishes. My life is quite simple, and I get along extremely well with my family, especially with my brother and sister. At school, I am a good student and always try to help others in subjects where I excel. The subjects in which I am the best are scientific subjects and I also really like English. I have always been autonomous and organized in what I do. I love sports, especially dance. Twice a week, since i was 5 years old I practice dance: street jazz and hip-hop, and at the end of the year, we organize a year-end show on a specific theme (last year it was Peter Pan). Perhaps I will have the opportunity to show you my dancing talents! I also admire cheerleading a lot, one friend of my friends do cheerleading and I admire her a lot. That's why I would really like to practice it. It would be a great honor for me to be welcomed into your family. With me, you will never be bored; I am always doing something. I am looking forward to the opportunity to contribute and thrive in my new life in the United States. With all my thanks, Thaïs.
