's Letter

Dear future host family, I am Judith and live in a small town in the Harz, which is a mountain range in middle Germany. Here in Germany I live with my family of five: My mother and my father, my older brother, my twin brother and not to forget our two cats. I am used to helping in the house by doing little chores like clearing the table, doing the dishes or cleaning my room. But of course I also help with doing the laundry, cooking and caring about our cats. My parents work as teachers at the same school my brothers and I go to. Every morning I walk to school with a friend of mine, who lives nearby, and spend my time until the afternoon there. My family always tries to eat lunch and have dinner together, but often that is not possible because I have lots of clubs and afternoon activities like track and field or dancing club. In general I like trying out new things and spending time with friends, therefore I like having plenty of things to do even though it means I have to squeeze in a lot sometimes. On weekends I often meet friends, in summer we enjoy hanging out at the surrounding lakes, but I also like spending time with my family at home. Then, for example, I bake something or we go on a hike together. Overall I do like outdoor activities very much. Doing an exchange year is something I have always wanted to do, since my older brother did one in 2022. The question which country I should go to was easy: My grandmother was American and I still have relatives living abroad. That is why I always have been interested in the American culture and people. In 2019 I have been at the West coast of the USA for four weeks with my family. We visited my aunts but also different cities and national parks. I would describe myself as an open minded and outgoing personality and I hope to learn more about myself and others through an exchange year. I look forward to getting to know you and being a part of your family for a year. I want to thank you for your time reading this. Best wishes Judith
