's Letter

Dear Host Family, I am excited to write to you and I hope you are in good health. I am also glad for this opportunity to tell you a bit about myself before I become part of the family for the exchange program. Thank you for accepting to host me. Elvis is my name and I am 15 years old. I am the eldest of four children in a family of six. In my family, I have my parents, Michael and Abigail, and my siblings, 13-year-old Elvina, 10-year-old Juanita and 7-year-old Michael. We are a close-knit family and we enjoy spending quality time together. We enjoy going on outings together, watching movies together and having discussions, which always lead to lively conversations and laughter. I have roles which I play in the family and they include chores like running errands and sweeping. I am also responsible for assisting my siblings with their homework and babysitting them when my parents are not around. One of my most cherished interests is writing and I am very passionate when it comes to writing. I just put my pen on paper or my hand on a keyboard, and the wild imagination in me begins to flow. Writing helps me to express my inner feelings and sort of create a world of my own where I am in charge. Writing feels like a superpower, letting me explore endless worlds and emotions. Some of my stories are inspired by happenings I have encountered or heard of while others are born from my imagination. I have written quite a number of stories and poems and I am working towards improving my writing skills with the hope of publishing my collection of stories and poems. Reading is another thing I take delight in. I love to read fantasy books like Harry Potter and novels like Beginning After the End which help me to build on my vocabulary and creativity. I also love books about school life filled with humor like Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney. Again, while I haven't had the chance to do it yet, I have always been intrigued by the idea of learning robotics and programming. I am drawn to robotics and programming because of its contributions in the modern world and its ability to solve world problems through creativity. I would be elated to try it during my exchange program if the opportunity arises. In terms of friends, I feel blessed to have a wonderful group of friends who share similar interests. We often study together, building each other up in academics and in our spiritual lives. We also enjoy discussions on topical issues like things the country must adopt for rapid development. I remember this time where we were engaged in a talk on great inventions that could change our country and the world for the better. We later realized we had been walking for about an hour. I have to admit we would make excellent leaders with all the ideas we brought together. We believe in teamwork, hard work and above all God for our successes. My city is a place of rich cultural tradition, governed by both moral and legal standards. It is made up of diverse cultures as well since people of different backgrounds come to settle for work, schooling, shelter and other reasons. There is mutual peace as the local people learn to live, work and school with the people of other cultures. For my future plans, I want to become a robotics engineer as well as an author owing to my keen interest in both aspects. Again, it would provide me with the platform to contribute to making the world a better place through my inventions, and also to put my wild imagination to use through writing. Not only would my books provide pleasure but also provide life lessons that would serve as a guide to others. I am a very hard-working person who believes that "You can do anything you put your mind to". I love watching Japanese anime, other animations, and playing video games. I play soccer sometimes with my little brother and my cousin for fun. I fancy playing the keyboard even though I am not very good at it. I am more of a Math guy and I have participated in a few Mathematics competitions, most of which I have been successful with. From my exchange experience, I would like to gain more public confidence and leadership skills as well as insight on your culture and family life. I also look forward to creating new memories, friendships and broadening my horizons. I would like to use this program to again acquire new skills and improve on my old skills by going through the USA school system. I look forward to meeting you all and beginning a new chapter of my life. I cannot wait to begin this new adventure. Warm regards, Elvis.
