Dear host family, Thank you so much for being willing to participate in the exchange program and accepting me to live with your family. My name is Koen, and I'm a Dutch guy who is incredibly excited about immersing myself in the American culture and living with a host family in the USA. I am open-minded and trustworthy, and my love for all things American has been a significant part of my life for as long as I can remember. Back home, my room is filled with posters of American cities and landscapes, showcasing my fascination with the country. This passion was further fueled during our family vacation in California last summer, where I fell in love with the vibrant culture and diverse experiences the USA has to offer. At home, I live with my parents, my younger brother, and a playful dog who keeps us all entertained. I spend a lot of time at the gym and playing soccer, and I also enjoy hanging out with friends and relaxing. I'm an enthusiastic seeker of new adventures, whether exploring new places or diving into different sports. I'm eager to delve into American sports like American Football and maybe Basketball, experience Highschool, learn about the local way of life. I look forward to experiencing warm and dry weather like the south of America, unlike the often cold and wet climate in the Netherlands. Additionally I enjoy holiday seasons like Christmas, and creating lasting memories with my host family. My mother is a researcher and teacher at university and my father works at a bank. My brother is 2 years younger than me and we also have a dog which I adore. On weekends, I enjoy playing sports and spending time with friends. I currently work weekends at a supermarket and use the money I earn to buy things, like nice clothes and sneakers. I appreciate the safety and stability of the Netherlands, but I'm drawn to the unique aspects of American life, such as the typical houses, festive holiday celebrations like Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas, high school experiences, and the emphasis on sports in school. I have a particular interest in American Football (NFL) and have recently developed a passion for it since my visit to America. I enjoy watching games on internet and learning more about the sport through videos. I hope to play American Football myself, perhaps as a kicker or wide receiver, during my time in America. I also have a fondness for Basketball (NBA) and enjoyed watching a baseball game (MLB) during my vacation, highlighting my enthusiasm for American sports. In my family, we have a loving dynamic with my parents, younger brother, and our dog, whom I've always wanted. I'm a dog person and would love it if my host family also has a dog. I envision enjoying walks with the dog to close by shops for example and get a little snack or drink there. During my stay in the USA I aim to engage more in outdoor activities and spend quality time with friends and my host family. I admire the typical American houses and school environments portrayed in movies and media. I've watched numerous videos and movies about America, appreciating the unique culture and lifestyle. I'm eager to experience being a regular kid in an American family and school, fully dive into in the American way of life. Hope to see you soon, Koen
