's Letter

Dear host family, My name is Abigaël, I live in small city rich in history in Belgium, near from France. I live with my parents Julie and Thomas and with my little sister Anaïs, she’s 14 years old. In my home, I have a dog Homaley and a cat Pacha that follows me everywhere. I visit my maternal grandparents Gisèle and Dominique once a week and less often to my paternal grandparents Jean-Claude and Francine because they live further away. I also have a godfather Maxime and a godmother Isabelle whom I see a few times a year for family events (birthdays, christmas,..) My parents, my sister and me spend time together at home but also sometimes in sport. We like to go for walks or cycle and enjoy nature. We sometimes go to the cinema or theater or do shopping I’m currently in 5 th grade in strong science-math, I really like my option, it’s a good training to become a doctor. At school I have several best friends Aurélie, Charlie, Casandra and Denisa and I get along well with most of the students. At home, I work regularly for school, I’m very motived, attentive in class, and thanks to that I have good results. I really like my school because the teachers are nice and the students too. Outside of school, I do sport (ice skating, a bit of swimming and yoga) and I really like it, it has positive effect on me, it relaxes me. I also like draw for myself and write little stories, it’s my creative side. I also like cooking. With my friend we sometimes go out to eat something, to do shopping, to go to the cinema or sometimes to the musem, to go to the swimming pool, to do sport or even just see each other and sometimes sleepovers and chat. It's always good times during which I have a lot of fun. In general, I’m a calm and realistic girl, I’m very open-minded and motived. Sometimes, I'm also funny that makes those around me laugh a lot. I also like to help out, for exemple, I help voluntarily during family event at my mother's work (they organize an Easter egg hunt, a barbecue in June and a Christmas party). or I help voluntarily during school events (flea market, sale of croque-monsieur and cakes). I chose USA as destination because I wanted to go to an English-speaking country, immerse myself in another culture and learn from people I will meet. I found England to close to home for that. We see the USA a lot in series, films or books and I would really like to know it in reality, for the moment it’s only like a dream. I choose to participate in the school program because a short stay seemed too short to really immerse myself in the culture of the country. And what better than to go to school an integrate a family for that. In my opinion, I could learn and bring to others as much as I will learn from them. I could, for example, cook and talk about things from home, make people discover Belgium a little. I will also bring my gaiety and my sens of humor. I think that my motivation to succeed this year will be a plus for my host school. Moreover, as I’m a good student, I could perhaps try to help other students (in math for example). I hope you will enjoy my letter and that you will be my host family. Tank you for your hospitality. Hope to meet you Abigaël
