's Letter

Dear host family, thank you so much for being willing to participate in the exchange program and accepting me to live with your family. I am a German boy and have just finished my junior high school. I want to learn more about the world and it’s people. That includes America. I want to learn about the culture and want to experience it up close. I am an outgoing, social, creative, strong and interested person who want’s to meet many kinds of different people. But I am also a very thoughtful person. I always try to make the right decision and have an individual mindset. I love sports like handball, volleyball, basketball or just wheight-lifting. I am learning 3 languages in the moment. German is my native language and my English is solid. In addition, I am learing French and Chinese in school. I have played handball for more than 8 years and still enjoy it. It tought me many things about teamwork and strength. It is a fast and physical sport where you have to trust your teammates and have a good mindset to not give up. It always brightens my day and is very precious to me. I am also the team captain so I do have some responsibility in my team and need to be a good example of a fair and strong player. My mother is the principal of a clinic school. That’s a school for children who are in a hospital due to mental or somatic illlness. Recently, she started playing the flute and showed me that age doesn’t really matter if you want to learn new things. My father is an entrepeneur and has founded multiple software companies and does fencing for 15 years now. I even tried fencing for a couple months but I prefer teamsport. I also have an older brother. He is three years older than me and finished school last year. He goes to the gym occasionally and does fencing for more than 4 year now. As children, my parents weren’t able to travel a lot because they both come from rather poor families. So during the past 10 years, we travelled a lot as a family. We have one dog and one cat so I know how to take care of pets too. My family is very close to each other and we all enjoy trips and vacations together. I really like my family and hope that I can also become a part of your family. I am really looking forward to go to an American high school because I think it shows a big part of the american culture. I only know the cliches and all the series about high schools and I think I just want to see things for myself. I am really excited and I think going to a foreign high school can teach you many things about live and it´s an experience one would not easy forget. Writing this letter made me even more determined to go to America and learn as much as possible about your culture. I believe that this exchange will create memories and friends that will stay for many years. Again, I am really grateful to you for accepting me in your household and I am excited to become a part of your family. Warm Regards, Anton
