Advice for Host Families

Advice for Host Families
  • Love and treat your student as if they were your own blood and the reward at the end will be great.
  • Welcome your student as a member of your family, and do things with them, i.e. play games, take them out to eat and to the movies, visit museums and fun places of interest.
  • Patience and enjoy the moments, because one learns during the briefest of moments.
  • Embrace the differences and be open to all experiences.
  • Encourage your student to not waste any time when it comes to making friends and being involved in the community. Encourage them to share their expectations with you regularly.
  • Always remember, no matter where they come from, they are still teenage kids. Your expectations of how they interact and behave should be no different than your teenage children. Welcome them, love them, and treat them with respect and you will build a lifelong relationship.
