's Letter

Dear host Family, my name is Jakub, but you can call me Kuba. I come from Poland. I'm 15 years old and I'm going to the second grade of high school. It may happen that I will celebrate my 16th birthday in August already in the USA. In school I like biology and history the most, sometimes I don't know which more. I also like Polish, English and sports activities. Physics and chemistry are interesting, but in general science subjects are not quite my favourite. I really like workshop classes, group work, creative activities, or meetings with experts. I have a lot of passions but the ones I love the most are riding a performance scooter and doing all kinds of spectacular stunts on it, while my second favorite passion is scuba diving and all kinds of water sports. Before I leave for the exchange I will still go to a scooter camp to develop my skills. I plan to bring my scooter with me to the US, and hope to find a skatepark near my new home so I can continue to train. I am a reliable person, whom you can confide in, tell what you feel and I will keep it a secret. Many times I have helped my classmates with their difficulties, advised them and I am glad that they trust me. I also feel good when I can confide in someone and talk to them. I am cheerful, positive and open to new things. When I do something wrong, I can apologize and admit my mistake. I have a brother John, he is 11 years old and trains soccer and karate. We play soccer or computer games together and play with our dog. Sometimes we get into arguments, but that's more like what every sibling has. My mom's name is Barbara, my dad's name is Michal. Our relationship is very good. We spend a lot of time with each other playing board games, sitting on the terrace, playing various games such as badminton, volleyball, basketball or we go for walks and talk to each other, sometimes we make popcorn and watch movies together. I'm really glad that I always have the support of my parents. I know they will always help me, hug me or talk to me. They also always cheer me on, give me motivation and help me achieve my dreams. My dad is a master in the kitchen and loves working in the garden. Mom, on the other hand, is from all organizational matters, she is always our guide on vacations and makes us a lot of pictures. I like to talk to each other with my mom, we have our secrets and we have one "passion" in common - we both like to buy shoes. We have five little cousins in the family, I generally like children and they like me. So I wouldn't mind if I had siblings in my American family. Why would I want to participate in this program? The answer is very simple, namely I would like to improve my English, which is actually useful everywhere in today's world. In the USA - because I like American English more than British, besides, I would like to learn about the local culture, history, traditions. I know a little bit of US history and would love to learn more. Learning and staying abroad, alone, without parents is a “life – school”, but also the adventure of a lifetime. In the movies American schools were shown as big, interesting and at the same time pleasant places, where there is always a lot going on. I also know that in the US I will be able to choose my own additional subjects. I am very interested in psychology, which I would like to study someday. And who knows, maybe I will discover something new. It seems to me that I will be a good "new" member of the family, I will help in the daily functioning of the house, I would also like to teach my host family some Polish recipes or even cook something together or tell a little about Polish history and traditions. I would appreciate for a chance and support. I also would appreciate for honesty if I do something wrong and understanding if I have a worse day, for a hug and smile. Thank you in advance for your hospitality and I hope we will catch a good contact. Greetings Kuba
