Dear Host Family,
thank you so much for being willing to participate in the exchange program and accepting me to live with your family.
My name is Piet, I am a german boy in the 10th grade of a german high school. I live in a house with my parents, Daniel and Stephanie and my brother Kjell. We live in a medium sized city with 200k inhabitants in the western part of Germany. My dad and mom both work as civil servants. My dad likes bicycling and both my parents love to travel. We visited the USA last summer break which is also a reason I want to do an exchange year. I want to learn about the American culture and share your life.
In my free time I love to do sports like soccer, basketball and tennis and play video games. Right now I only do tennis in a club but I did all kinds of sports in my past, such as swimming, parkour and athletics. After these holidays I also want to get into training at the gym. I wasn’t allowed to do this before because I wasn’t old enough to go to the gym. But I did it at home for some time. I do most things with other people together. When I do sports or play video games I mostly do them with other people. I am a very outgoing, creative, and fun-loving person. When I am in America I am open to new things though. I will be happy to try new sports like football or baseball and try different food. I also am open to meet new people.
I speak four different languages, German and English fluent, and I try to become fluent in French and Spanish.
I never played any instrument or had a pet. But nevertheless I am okay with all kinds of pets and I can handle children pretty well too. Even though my brother is only two years younger than me I have a lot of young kids living in my street so it wouldn’t matter if my host family has a pet or a little kid.
But I don’t only wanna see the american culture, I also want to show you some of the german culture. Even though I can’t really cook good I can try do make some german dishes or teach you a little bit of the german language. I can also show you some special events and holidays that only exist in Germany like Octoberfest and carnival or celebrating Christmas on Christmas Eve.
I am convinced that I will have an amazing time in America with you. I look forward to become a part of your family and have a lot of unforgettable memories.
Warm Regards,
Piet
