Dear Host Family,
Hello! My name is Iris, and I am so grateful to meet you as my host family. I believe this exchange year will help me become more responsible and independent, and I am truly excited about this meaningful experience. I also hope that we can have a fun and memorable year together—I promise to do my best!
Let me tell you a little about myself. I am thoughtful, positive, and curious. I don’t have one specific dream job yet, but I am very interested in art and creativity, so I imagine myself becoming an artist or maybe even an actress. I have many hobbies such as playing the piano, drawing, and cooking. I also love spending time outdoors, going for walks in the park, playing board games, traveling, and of course—learning languages! If you’d like, I can even teach you some Korean. I think learning a new language is like discovering a new world, and that’s why I’m also teaching myself Spanish. It’s such a beautiful language, and even though I’m not fluent yet, I never give up.
Another big passion of mine is movies. I love watching Netflix with popcorn on a cozy couch, and I also enjoy going to the cinema. Sometimes I even dream of creating my own movie one day. I would be very happy to watch your favorite films together!
I am also really excited to experience American high school life. I’ve heard there are many fun clubs and activities to join, and I can’t wait to experience events like prom and homecoming—they’ve always been my dream. I’m also looking forward to celebrating holidays such as Halloween and Christmas in the U.S., which I know are very special and festive.
As for some fun facts about me: my MBTI is INFP, and my zodiac sign is Pisces. (I hope you don’t mind me sharing this!)
Thank you very much for reading my letter and for welcoming me into your family. I am truly grateful, and I can’t wait to meet you soon!
Sincerely,
Iris
