Sarah
's Letter
Dear host family,
First of all, I would like to thank you for reading my letter and spending time to know me better. I hope that the following lines will give you an impression about me, my life in France and why I would like to spend a year in the USA.
My name is Sarah. I live in a big house with my parents, my three little brothers and my loved little dog Litchie. Even if we sometimes argue with my brothers, I would be very bored without them.
My parents both work, my father is a commercial technician and my mother is a psychologist. They encourage me for this experience. Our relationship is based on trust and communication. So they give me a lot of freedom, what allows me to be more independent.
Despite I love spending time with my family and the joyful atmosphere there is at home, I also need quiet moments in my room.
Besides my family, my friends are the most important persons in my life. I don't really have one best friend, but I have many very good friends in different groups. We can count on each other and we always have so many fun moments together. We go shopping or we like organizing sleepover for birthdays.
My family and my friends consider me like a person funny, kind, attentive, smiling and I am also a hard worker and serious.
But I also have some defaults. I can be shy when I don't know and my parents reproach me to be too demanding of myself. I'm trying to improve it!
About my hobbies, I have different interests. I practice dance since I'm four years old. I started with classical dance and now I have chosen jazz dance.
I'm also playing transverse flute since two years. I like it but it's not really a passion.
Finally, I love reading. I can spend many hours with a book.
Probably you will ask yourself why I want to be an exchange student. I think it's a great opportunity to meet new people, getting to know the "American way of life", improve my English (because I don't speak very well!) and make new experiences.
It's not that I don't like my life here in France, in contrary, I'm sure that I will miss my family and my friends. But I know that the experience of one year with you will be worth leaving my home.
I'm so excited about the rest and I hope I'll be able to share a little of French culture.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you and I am so thankful that you consider hosting me for one year.
So I hope I will hear from you and to be a part of your family.
Best wishes.
Sarah
