Dear American Family, My name is Gunes and I am 15 years old. Both my mom and my dad are engineers and I love to spend time with them. I also have a sister who lives in another city and she is 16. When I am with my mom we usually go to the seaside, take a walk in nature or watch movies at home. With my dad, we always eat because we both love eating and chatting at the same time. We like to try new cuisines and places so we're always looking for somewhere new. We also love to go to the cinema together. With my sister, we practically do everything. We shop, eat, read, chat, do sports, watch movies, cook etc. I love them. My duties at home are of course cleaning my room, shopping and sometimes taking out the trash and emptying the dishwasher. I have a lot of different interests in different fields. First of all, I love to do sports. My favorite is dancing but I am also keen on playing volleyball, swimming, ice skating (even though I am not very good at it yet) and some other sports. I am also a big fan of music, movies and reading. I listen to music most of the time and I want to make music one day even if it is not professional. I also plan on starting to play the piano in a few weeks. I love watching movies of all kind icluding horror. But my favorites are the ones that force me think or make me feel something. Dead Poets Society, Spider-Man movies and Interstellar are amongst my favorites. When it comes to reading, I am still not so picky. I read from detective novels to romance books. I also love to read classics. I love The Secret History and The Picture of Dorian Gray. Last but not least, I am interested in fashion and love styling clothes. I might even consider pursuing a career in the fashion area. I have a lot of friends but 5 of them are the closest. 2 of them are from my middle school and the other 3 are from my high school. We all have similar interests so it is really fun to hang out with them. When we hang out we go to exhibitions, old bookstores, cafes to eat dessert and places where we can improve and educate ourselves. We also like studying and watching movies together. My city is a really crowded city that has a beautiful history. You can find lots of fascinating and historic places to visit. As I said, I have a lot of different interests which makes it hard for me to choose a career path. But I want to do something that will allow me to be creative and have a positive effect on people. I also want to be remembered so I would love to be an actor or singer but I do not know how. I am thinking of becoming a diplomat these days but I still have to do a lot of research. What I want to gain from this experience firstly is definitely learning about new lifestyles and cultures. People in the U.S. live a lot differently than people in Turkey and I am really excited to see that. Another thing I want to gain is new friends. I am a social person and I love meeting new people. Meeting with people who usually live far away from me and getting close to them sounds like a great experience. I also want to see how the education system is there. I want to see the schools, the classes, the exams, etc. Lastly, I want you to know that I am really excited to experience and learn a lot of things there. I am looking forward to meeting you. Gunes
