Dear host family,
First of all,
I would like to thank you for giving me the chance to
spend a year as a part of your family. In this letter, I will
try to give you a first impression of me, my family and my life.
My name is Lena and I was born in Hungary. About 11 years ago, I started dancing modern ballet. Unfortunately, my parents decided to separate when I was 6 years old so we moved to Germany, therefore I started doing gymnastics and group dances in a city nearby. We won the German and state championships in 2019 but sadly I had to quit because our team split up. I live in a small village in Germany with my mom, my little brother, and my stepdad. My dad lives about 2 hours away with his girlfriend and I visit them once a month. My older brother is 29, so we have a big age gap and we don't really know or see each other. He's been a dancer since he graduated from school and loves visiting new places. My parents used to be sportspeople in their teenage years so that's probably where my brother and I inherited our passion for sports from.
At school, I learn English, German, and French. After my year abroad, I would either like to continue my studies by attending a specialized secondary school or train as a flight attendant. I love travelling and visiting new cities and countries, and I find that getting in touch with different cultures broadens my mind. I also love to spend my summer holidays in a salsa dance camp.
Since I‘m a vegetarian, I often cook for myself and sometimes also for my family. I want to mention that I don't mind if there's meat in the meal. I will still eat everything except for the meat in it.
In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, especially while reading books or drawing. My friends mostly come from school, but also from sports and free time. We like to meet up and go to another city by train, go shopping and eat something together.
They would describe me as humorous, outgoing, and ambitious.
My parents trust me a lot, as I have proved to be mature and respectful.
Likewise, I can’t wait to gain your trust too, in due time, by learning your habits and your
rules to spend an amazing year together. I look forward to learning about your culture and traditions and I would love to tell you about mine.
I hope we can build a beautiful relationship characterized by wonderful memories and experiences but above all live the classic everyday life with you. Thank you so much for reading my letter and I can't wait to hear from you!
Best Regards, Lena
