Dear Host Family,
I would like to thank you so much for being willing to participate in the exchange program and accepting me to live whit your family.
I am a Brazilian boy and I am studying my first highschool year. I would love to do an experience like this where I'm going to live in another country with another family that has a different culture. What makes me most excited about this is that this country is going to be the USA, a country that has a very appreciated culture here in Brazil. In my country we love to watch American movies that show a little American culture like Halloween, Thanksgiving, picnics in parks, snow skiing, camping with family and friends and the appreciation of sports.
My parents are separated, but their relationship is very good, so I live with my mother and every two weekends I go visit my father who lives in another city with my two half-brothers and my stepmother. When I'm with my mother I usually visit my grandmother and my great-grandmother who is already 96 years old on weekends and when I'm with my father I usually go to the park to ride a bike with him and my brothers, but at sometimes I visit my grandparents on my father's side who live in the countryside, when I go to visit them we usually have barbecue and I like to ride my bike there, because I have more freedom to cycle in the streets, since in the countryside it is much more safe to ride around.
I recently started taking tennis lessons once a week and at school I like to play table tennis with my friends during breaks. At my mother's house I have a yorkshire dog named Mel, she is 9 years old and loves to walk with me on the street and in dog parks. My mother works as a banker and is 43 years old, my father works as an engineer and is 45 years old, my stepmother works as a teacher at my old school and is 44 years old, my brother is 5 years old and my younger sister 1 year old. We are a very close family and I hope I can be a part of your family too.
I'm excited to be able to present some things about Brazilian culture to you, like some of our typical foods like feijoada, pastel, coxinha and cheese bread. Also, I would like to show my host family how we celebrate some of our Brazilian festivals like Carnaval and Festa Junina.
When I researched people who went to high school in the US on YouTube and when I heard my family members talking about their experience on exchange I was even more excited to take on this unique opportunity that I will never forget.
I look forward to being part of your family.
Warm Regards,
Vitor
