Tamara

's Letter

Dear future host family, First of all, I would like to thank you for reading my letter and for showing interest in getting to know me. We've never met, so I'd like to introduce myself now. My name is Tamara and I am 16 years old. I live together with my parents and my little dog named Kira in a house with a little garden. I like animals but unfortunately, I am allergic to cats and can’t live with them. I have a good relationship with my parents and we get along pretty well. We often go camping for example in Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, or we simply camp in Germany. We try to spend much time as possible together, on Holidays, on the weekends, or on a walk with our dog. If my parents don't have time, I try to help them, and of course, I do house chores and take care of the dog. I love playing with Kira. I also have two half-sisters with whom I sometimes do things. We go eat in the restaurant, go to the cinema or do other things. They are already grown up, but I still love them, even if I don't see them that often. I am now in tenth grade at a ‘‘Gymnasium‘‘ (secondary school). I'm very good at school and my favorite subjects are math and sports and art. I go to gymnastics twice a week. Sometimes I participate in competitions. A year ago my team became city champion. My club isn't about performance, it's about having fun, everyone can do gymnastics there and I like that very much. After the exchange year, I would like to become a volunteer gymnastics coach in my club. Once a week after school I go to volleyball with some friends. This is fun. If I can, I go to the gym every week too. So you see I do a lot of sports but I guess I am also very creative. I like drawing very very much. I have already painted pictures with acrylic paints, with pencils or with colored pencils. Sometimes I handcraft for example I felt something, make my own jewelry, or handcraft something for my friends and parents. After school or on the weekends I am often doing something with my friends. We are often outside or do things like swimming or shopping. Sometimes on weekends I also babysit for my neighbors. In summary, I would describe myself as an optimistic, open-minded, friendly, ambitious, creative and sporty person. I might be very excited at first, but I think that's normal and once you get to know me, you realize that I like laughing and making people laugh. My dream is to do this exchange year in the USA and then to get a very good graduation so that I can then study what I want. I don't know exactly what I want to study yet. Either medicine or business administration. I am very interested in both. Probably you will ask yourself why I want to do an exchange year in the USA. I think it’s a great opportunity to meet new people, get to know the „American way of life“, improve my English and make new experiences. I don't think you can gather the experiences that you can gather in such an exchange year anywhere else. I am looking forward to getting to know you and I am so thankful that you consider hosting me for one year. So I hope I will hear from you and even more to be a part of your family. Yours, Tamara :)
