AYUSA believes that all high school students should be able to enjoy the benefits of studying abroad, regardless of their financial situation. AYUSA Study Abroad is offering offer up to $30,000 in scholarships to students in 2011. We also encourage and support students to help pay for their Study Abroad program by fundraising a portion of their program fees.
AYUSA Study Abroad will grant 6 scholarships to study abroad participants. These scholarships will be awarded based on an essay contest. Students will write a 500-750 word essay on one of several topics and submit their essay by March 19. Download the essay contest form.
Those who are awarded the scholarships will blog about their study abroad experience and that blog will appear on our website. The purpose of this scholarship is to award skillful writers and allow other students to share the study abroad experiences of those students. The essay contest is open to all applicants to an AYUSA Study Abroad program.
The purpose of this scholarship is to award $2000 to 7 resourceful and mature students who are passionate about international exchange, bettering their community and self-growth. This scholarship is for AYUSA Study Abroad students who will be participating on a 2010-2011 Academic Year, 2010 Fall Semester, or 2010 Fall Trimester program in Australia, Ecuador, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Ireland, Japan or Spain. The purpose of this scholarship is to award one resourceful and dedicated student who is able to share their passion for study abroad through winsome and creative presentations at their high school or in their local community. The winner will be awarded $1000 and is required to speak to peers about their experiences before and after the month-long summer program in Berlin. This scholarship is open to all 2010 Summer Germany applicants. The winner will also be asked for a high resolution digital image of themselves for our website. AYUSA Study Abroad in cooperation with our Spanish partners is happy to offer our Spain Teaching Scholarships. Qualified students participating on a Fall Semester/Trimester or Academic Year program to Spain can apply to received scholarship amounts ranging from 500-1500 Euros, at today's conversion rate that means you can save up to $2000 on your program in Spain. A total of 8 scholarship awards will be granted.
As a steward for foreign exchange you will agree to share the English language with your host family for a minimum of 5 hours per week. Scholarship amounts are paid out as monthly stipends while you are on program. This is a great opportunity to save money on your program cost and to have some spending money while you are in Spain. If your family has hosted an exchange student for an Academic Year or a Semester, through AYUSA Global Youth Exchange, you may be eligible for a Host Family Scholarship. Host Family Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $500 towards any academic year, fall or spring semester program, or $250 towards any summer program. In order to be eligible for the Host Family Scholarship, your AYUSA High School Study Abroad Program must start within two years of the date that your family completed hosting.

If your family plans to host an exchange student before your High School Study Abroad program begins, you may send in the Host Family Scholarship application within one month after your family has completed hosting to receive the scholarship award.
