Fundraising

The world awaits your discovery! As an AYUSA Study Abroad participant, international friendships, cultural adventures, and fun are all within your reach. Over the years, we've seen many students raise 100% of their program fees on their own, which means you can do it too!

Students who are motivated and committed to raising their program fees have been successful using a combination of the following strategies:

  • Part time employment: A combination of part-time work and odd jobs might be the best way to reach your goal.  Be sure to save your earnings, and tell people about your exciting goal!
  • Creative community fundraising events: Bake sales, car washes, and raffles for services donated from local businesses are just a few examples.
  • Scholarships: Be sure to check our scholarship page for more information.
  • Host an exchange student through AYUSA Global Youth Exchange! You will qualify for a significant discount off your program fees by hosting an international student and your entire family will have a memorable cross-cultural experience. To learn how your family can host an exchange student, visit the host an exchange student page or call 1.888.55.AYUSA.
  • Research independent scholarships and grants: Use the internet and at your local library to find scholarships that you qualify for. A great place to start is www.fastweb.com
  • Request donations: Contact local businesses and organizations. Explain your goals and ask for their support. AYUSA students in the past have found that international businesses, service organizations (such as Kiwanis), special interest groups and even family friends have been helpful and supportive.
  • Download our fundraising kit: Our helpful fundraising guide includes detailed recommendations for fundraising strategies, a sample donation-request letter, and success stories of former students.
