Application Process

Now that you've selected the country and High School Study Abroad program for your cultural exploration, you're ready to begin the application process for academic year, semester or high school summer.

Check Requirements and Deadlines for Your High School Program

  • Check the program details section for the country and program of your choice to find the general requirements and deadlines. Not sure you qualify? Contact a Study Abroad Program Advisor at 800.579.1709.
  • Start the process early! Keep in mind that many of our programs have limited capacity and fill up before the official deadline and will require that you apply for a student visa. The earlier you submit your application the smoother things will go.

Complete an Application

  • Apply Online. It takes just a few minutes to create an account and get started! You will need a credit card number to submit your application online. AYUSA will automatically process the $500 deposit at the time of your application submission. (See terms and conditions for payment schedule if you are submitting after an enrollment deadline has been extended)
  • Compile all of your application forms as soon as possible. Applications for most programs include a doctor's evaluation, teacher recommendations, and official high school transcripts. It may take 1-3 weeks to get all of the information you need.
  • Take the time to ensure that your application is neat and complete. Your application will be used to introduce you to your future school and host family. We also evaluate the overall quality of your application when awarding partial scholarships.
