Scholarships & Discounts

Because Ayusa believes that all high school students should be able to enjoy the benefits of studying abroad, regardless of their financial situation, Ayusa Study Abroad is offering up to $30,000 in scholarships to students in 2012! We also encourage and support students to help pay for their Study Abroad program by fundraising a portion of their program fees.

Youth Writing Contest

Ayusa Study Abroad will grant 6 awards to study abroad participants. These awards will be given based on an essay contest. Students will write a 500-750 word essay on one of several topics and submit their essay by March 1st. Download the essay contest form.

Those who receive the award will blog about their study abroad experience and their blog will appear on our website. The purpose of this contest is to reward skillful writers and allow other students to share the study abroad experiences of those students. The essay contest is open to all applicants of any summer, fall semester/trimester, or academic year Ayusa Study Abroad program.

Global Citizen Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to award $2000 to 7 resourceful and mature students who are passionate about international exchange, bettering their community and self-growth. This scholarship is for Ayusa Study Abroad students who will be participating on a 2012-2013 Academic Year, 2012 Fall Semester, or 2012 Fall Trimester program. Friends and Family Discount

Students with family members who have studied abroad on an Ayusa Study Abroad or Intrax Study Abroad Program are eligible to receive a $500 discount off their program. Students who enroll in an Ayusa program with a friend can also receive the $500 discount!

Host Family Scholarship

If your family has hosted an exchange student for an Academic Year or a Semester, through Ayusa Global Youth Exchange, you may be eligible for a Host Family Scholarship. Host Family Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $500 towards any academic year, fall or spring semester program, or $250 towards any summer program. In order to be eligible for the Host Family Scholarship, your Ayusa High School Study Abroad Program must start within two years of the date that your family completed hosting.

Download a Host Family Scholarship application and send it in with your complete High School Study Abroad program application.

If your family plans to host an exchange student before your High School Study Abroad program begins, you may send in the Host Family Scholarship application within one month after your family has completed hosting to receive the scholarship award.

Golden Ticket Scholarship

For schools that have hosted at least one Ayusa exchange student, Ayusa awards a $500 scholarship for each successive international student that the school hosts.  At their discretion, schools may give this scholarship to any of their students wanting to study abroad on an Ayusa program.  Schools may combine up to 3 coupons, a value of $1500, for any one student.  Ask your high school office, or contact an Ayusa Program Advisor at 1800-579-1709, for more information.

Program Application deadlines:

• Summer, Fall Semester, Fall Trimester and Academic Year programs - March 31 (Australia and Italy have earlier deadlines)
• Students who submit their Spring Semester or Trimester application by March 31 may also be considered for a scholarship.
