The Caribbean roots of Belize combined with its tropical landscape and welcoming people  will make travelers feel far more like they are visiting an island nation than part of mainland Central America. This tiny country is lined by white beaches and turquoise waters, with marshy coastline rising into lush, forest covered mountains.

Mayans dwelled here in ancient times, marking their legacy with temples and pyramids that still stand. Though today Belize has the smallest population of Central America, it is also one of the most diverse, with people whose origins lie not just in Mayan but Garifuna, Creole, Afro-Caribbean, Mestiza, and Mennonite cultures. As a volunteer, you will connect with these unique communities and engage with their culture and history by working together on service projects that will help uplift the social, economic, and environmental conditions of the region.
