The Spears Family
I'm Judy and 16 years old. I'm from Germany and have been with my host family the Spears in Evans, Colorado for one month. They are the loveliest and nicest host family.
On the day that I arrived to Denver and we got home from the airport, when I went into my room I nearly cried. They had this big picture that my little host sister Erin drew and it said “Welcome to our home Judy.” It had some spelling mistakes because Erin is learning how to write. But it was still a wonderful message on the wall. And it's still there and I never want to take it away from there.
They also showed me how to use everything in the house and opened every shelf in the kitchen to make me food in the morning. In the morning the day after my arrival I just went into the kitchen to get my breakfast, because I felt really at home. School also started a few weeks ago and my host sister Tara really helped me to understand everything!
We always have fun together. We made a super duper trip to the Rocky Mountains. We saw some elk and had beautiful weather. I never saw something pretty like that before—it was awesome! Sometimes I try to teach them some German words. On Labor Day, I wanted to say ‘thank you’ so I made some German food—I think they liked it. My host family has done a great job to make me feel at home. Thank you so much for being a great host family!
