Gun woo

's Letter

Dear future host family, Hello! My name is Gunwoo and my English name is Kevin. And I am living in the Philippines at the moment. I also have experience living in Ecuador for about 6~7 years when I was young. I am an only child, I live with my mom, dad, and my dog named Willie. When my mom suggested to me, if I Would I go to the U.S as an exchange student, I had many emotions such as expectation, excitement, anxiety and worry. But since I wanted to experience new things, I decided to take on the challenge. To me, it is a huge challenge because I will leave my family and friends. The U.S. is a place that I have never experienced before. I am excited and nervous to meet new family and friends. However, I think it will be a very valuable experience, and it will be an unforgettable time throughout my life. I will do my best to make my year memorable in the U.S. The host family who I will spend time with will also be very precious people to me. I can't wait to meet you. I will become a friendly and sincere member to your family. I hope you can join me in my journey of growth. Some of the things that I like are basketball, computers, and airplanes. I love to play basketball. I started playing at my school's basketball club when I came to middle school. Before I started playing basketball, I liked swimming, running, and biking, now I love to play basketball. I also like assembling computers myself, playing computer games, editing YouTube videos, and flying in flight simulators. I'm an aspiring pilot who loves flying. To become a pilot, I often look up information about airplanes and pilots, and I experience flying through flight simulators. And the activities that I will introduce what I do on weekends. First of all I like to have a flight in flight simulators. I fly on long-haul flights on weekends because I have more time than on weekdays. Second thing that I do on weekends is go to church with my mom. I also do drum lessons every Saturday at the church. Third thing is going on a walk with my parents and my dog. Lastly, I like to hang out with my friends and go to malls, or places where we can have activities. Or sometimes my friends visit my house and have a sleepover. I would like to have many fun activities with my friends and my host families in the U.S. Hawaii is the only place that I have traveled to in the U.S. My family rented a car and traveled to Oahu Island when I was nine years old. I met my friends' family who live there. I have many good memories because of the beautiful nature and activities in Hawaii. I had layovers in other places like Atlanta, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. I have been there only for a few hours as well. Although I have many years of experience in American schools and have met a lot of teachers from the U.S, this will be my first time living there. All the people that I have met from the U.S. have been so good to me that gave me high expectations of those I will meet there. The U.S. is a very large country, and I think there will be many differences from the places I have lived. I look forward to the days when I will explore and learn new cultures. I want to make a lot of friends and share a lot of stories when I get to the U.S. I'm curious about what kind of friends I'll make, and what kind of life I will have in the U.S. I'd be really happy to meet a friend with whom I can talk about airplanes, computers and play basketball with me. I’d like to also upload YouTube videos about life in the U.S. with my friends. I'll also do my best to have the best time with my host family. I’d like to have many activities and have great times together. I'll also study hard in school. I'm looking forward to what kind of events will happen at school during the year. Lastly, thank you for taking the time to read my letter and hope we can meet soon. Have a great day!
